Yeah, it can give you radiation posioning if you are around it for too long, so it can kill you without even biting. Buuut, not being a radiation expert, i´m guessing hours, days or even weeks of exposure depending on how contaminated it is.

Theoreticaly, it could cause a zombie to decline faster to being an inert one due to some types of radiation destroying cell structure, but i wouldn´t count on it.
